Results of the Final Day: 2025 IWF Youth & Junior World Championships

On May 6 in Lima (Peru), the 2025 IWF World Championships for Youth (U17) and Juniors (U20) came to an end. The last four medal sets in the U20 category were contested on the final day, and the standout performers were the Iranian athletes, who claimed a double victory in both men’s super-heavyweight categories.

In the 109 kg category, Alireza Nasiri (Iran) won by a large margin with a total of 400 kg (180+220). He had lifted 230 kg in the clean and jerk during training — equal to the junior world record — but skipped his third attempt in Lima, completing five successful lifts and finishing 30 kg ahead of his closest rival. His compatriot Farhad Golizade took silver with 370 kg (165+205), and bronze went to Ukrainian lifter Andrii Borovskyi — 366 kg (165+201), who edged out Poland’s Marcin Ziolkowski, unsuccessful in his final lift of 207 kg.

In the +109 kg category, Hamidreza Mohammaditanha became the champion with a total of 394 kg (181+213), narrowly defeating Taha Nemati (392 kg, 180+212). Both Iranians attempted big lifts in the clean and jerk but failed to complete them. Bronze went to Georgii Miand (Russia, neutral status) — 382 kg (175+207), who failed his final attempt at 214 kg.
