On March 16, 2025, the Armenian Sambo Championship among adults took place at the "Dinamo" sports complex in Yerevan. The championship was held in two disciplines: sport sambo and combat sambo for both men and women.
Avetik Poghosyan, the champion in the under 88 kg weight category (combat sambo), shared his emotions:
"Hard work and persistent training have paid off. Today, I became the Armenian champion among adults, and this is a great honor for me. Now, I am focused on preparing for the European Championship, which promises to be no less intense and exciting."
Tamara Grigoryan, a five-time Armenian champion, won for the first time in the adult category:
"This is my fifth title in the Armenian championships, but the first in the adult category. I only had one match, but I want to note that my opponent was worthy. A huge thank you to my coach, who helped me achieve this result. For me, today is a real fairy tale."
The winners of the championship are now preparing for international competitions, where they will represent Armenia.
