The Football Federation of Armenia has released a new video showing the current state of the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium ahead of the home 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Portugal (September 6) and Ireland (September 9).
On August 3, Jennifer Lopez held a concert at the stadium, after which part of the pitch was damaged. Over the past month, the Football Federation of Armenia carried out restoration work, and by early September the field was brought back to proper condition. During this time, no matches were held at the stadium.
A UEFA representative has already inspected the pitch, confirmed its quality, and approved the hosting of the upcoming matches. However, to minimize risks and maintain the field in perfect condition, the FFA decided that the national team’s pre-match training sessions will take place at the Avan Football Academy pitch.
Thus, the Republican Stadium is fully ready to host two important World Cup qualifying fixtures.
