Rashid Rakhimov Leaves His Position as Head Coach of Rubin
Football 💬 Comment

Kazan’s Rubin have announced their decision to part ways with head coach Rashid Rakhimov. The club’s management has decided to terminate the specialist’s contract, which was valid until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Marat Safiullin, President of the Board of ANO FC Rubin, thanked Rakhimov for his work:

“Rubin would like to thank Rashid Rakhimov for his contribution to the team’s development during a difficult period. Under his leadership, the club won the First League and managed to establish itself in the Russian Premier League. We wish the specialist further success in his professional career.”

Rakhimov had been in charge of Rubin since 2022. In the 2022/23 season, the team won the First League under his guidance and returned to the elite of Russian football. In the RPL, Rubin finished 8th in the 2023/24 season and 7th in the 2024/25 season. After 18 rounds of the current 2025/26 season, Rubin are also in 7th place in the league table.

Rakhimov’s departure could negatively affect the position of Armenia national team midfielder Ugochukwu Iwu. The player performed confidently under the coach and had a stable place in the team’s starting lineup.
