Rafik Darmoyan wins bronze at the European U17 Weightlifting Championships

Armenian weightlifter Rafik Darmoyan (71 kg) won a bronze medal at the European U17 Weightlifting Championships held in Madrid.

Darmoyan placed second in the snatch and third in the clean and jerk, adding two more small medals to Armenia’s tally. He lifted a total of 273 kg (121 kg in the snatch and 152 kg in the clean and jerk). The top two spots were taken by Russian athletes.

Final results in the 71 kg weight category (boys):

• Arseniy Kurochkin (Russia) — 286 kg (125+161)

• Sergey Lukanin (Russia) — 274 kg (119+155)

• Rafik Darmoyan (Armenia) — 273 kg (121+152)

Thus, the Armenian team already has 5 medals at the European U17 Championships (3 small and 2 big).
