Pyunik returns the championship star to the club crest

Yerevan’s Pyunik has once again added the championship star to its club crest. The star symbolizes 10 or more league titles won by the team in the Armenian championship.

According to the club’s press service, the star will once again be placed above the Pyunik crest, highlighting the club’s special status in the history of Armenian football.

Pyunik is the most decorated football club in Armenia. The team was founded in 1992, shortly after the collapse of the USSR and the establishment of the Football Federation of Armenia, as well as the national championship. One of the club’s founders is Armenian football legend Khoren Hovhannisyan.

Initially, the team played under the name Homenetmen, but in 1995 the club was renamed Pyunik. Since then, it has become one of the main symbols of Armenian club football.

To date, Pyunik has won the Armenian championship 16 times, lifted the Armenian Cup 8 times and claimed the Armenian Super Cup 10 times.

The return of the championship star to the crest is another reminder of the club’s rich history and its leading role in Armenian football.
