Pyunik Extend Contracts with Edgar Malakyan and Filipe Almeida

Yerevan’s Pyunik continue to work on keeping their squad together ahead of the new season and their European campaign. The club have officially announced contract extensions with two players — Edgar Malakyan and Filipe Almeida.

For 35-year-old Edgar Malakyan, this new agreement carries special significance. One of the team’s most experienced players and a true club legend will spend his 11th season with his hometown club. For many years, Malakyan has remained an important figure for Pyunik not only on the pitch, but also in the dressing room, where his experience is especially valuable for the younger players.

Pyunik have also extended the contract of 28-year-old Portuguese player Filipe Almeida. He joined the Yerevan club last summer and quickly became one of the key players in the starting lineup. Almeida adapted well to the Armenian championship and played an important role in the team’s performances during the past season.

Pyunik finished third in the recently completed Armenian championship and earned the right to compete in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Conference League. Keeping Malakyan and Almeida should help the team preserve a balance of experience and stability ahead of another European campaign.

The upcoming season will be especially important for Pyunik, as the team will look to perform successfully on the international stage and once again fight for the top positions in the domestic league.
