In the 11th round of the Armenian Premier League, title contenders “Pyunik” and “Ararat-Armenia” secured important wins and continue their pursuit of the top spot.
Yerevan’s “Pyunik” defeated “Gandzasar” 2–1 at home. Both goals were scored by defenders — Alemao and Kovalenko — showing that even the back line can make a decisive contribution to the result.
“Ararat-Armenia” also won 2–1, overcoming BKMA. The winning — and rather unusual — goal was scored in the 86th minute by Paul Ayongo. For the 28-year-old Ghanaian, it was his first goal in the Armenian championship.
After 11 rounds, “Ararat-Armenia” sits second with 24 points, while “Pyunik” holds fourth place with 19. The Armenian Premier League title race continues to heat up. “Alashkert” leads the table with 25 points but has played one match more.
