French side Paris Saint-Germain won the 2025 FIFA Intercontinental Cup, defeating Brazilian club Flamengo in the final held in Qatar at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium.
The match ended in a 1–1 draw after regular time. PSG winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring in the 38th minute. After the break, Flamengo equalised as Jorginho converted a penalty in the 62nd minute following a VAR review.
The trophy was decided in a penalty shootout, where PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov became the standout performer. The Russian shot-stopper saved four consecutive penalties, securing a 2–1 shootout victory for the Parisian club.
Safonov was named Man of the Match. For Luis Enrique’s side, the trophy marked a fitting end to a remarkable year: earlier, PSG completed a treble in the 2024/25 season, including their first-ever UEFA Champions League title.
With this triumph, the Paris club confirmed its status as the strongest team in Europe and the world, adding another prestigious international trophy to its collection.
