As a result of the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the Armenian national team was placed in Group F, where they will also compete against Ireland and Hungary. The last participant of the group was determined through the UEFA Nations League playoffs between Portugal and Denmark.
The second match of this clash took place on March 23. Portugal secured a home victory with a score of 5:2 and, winning 5:3 on aggregate, not only advanced to the Nations League semifinals but also secured a spot in Group F of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Denmark, meanwhile, was placed in Group C, where they will play against Belarus, Greece, and Scotland.
In the first playoff match, Denmark won at home with a score of 1:0. In the return leg, Portugal won 3:2, pushing the match into extra time, where they scored twice more and secured a final score of 5:2 (5:3 on aggregate). The goals for Portugal were scored by Gonçalo Ramos, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Francisco Trincão (twice), while Denmark also netted an own goal. For Denmark, Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Kristensen found the back of the net.
