Nigeria have now won all of their matches in the current Africa Cup of Nations.
The second match of the day was far more intense and high-scoring. Egypt claimed a dramatic 3–2 victory over Ivory Coast. Omar Marmoush put Egypt ahead in the 4th minute, and in the 32nd minute Rami Rabia doubled the lead after an assist from Mohamed Salah. An own goal in the 40th minute reduced the deficit and brought the intrigue back into the game. Early in the second half, Mohamed Salah scored Egypt’s third goal to make it 3–1.
