At the moment, the Armenian national team has secured six Olympic quotas for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, which will take place from 6 to 22 February in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. Armenia is guaranteed to be represented in three sports: alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, and figure skating.

Cross-country skiing
Armenia has three basic quotas in cross-country skiing (one men’s and two women’s).
The current team situation is as follows:
Men: Mikayel Mikayelyan and Spartak Voskanyan qualify by ranking, but only one of them will compete.
Women: Katya Galstyan is guaranteed a spot; the second athlete will be selected later. She may be unranked, as Armenia already has two quotas.
The Armenian team still has a chance to obtain an additional men’s quota. To achieve this, the country must finish the year in the top 30 of the world ranking. Currently, Armenia is 33rd, and there is still a chance to improve the position.
Figure skating
A historic success has been the qualification in pair skating.
The duo Karina Akopova / Nikita Rakhmanin earned an Olympic quota by placing second at the qualification tournament in Beijing. This is a significant achievement: Armenia had previously obtained Olympic quotas in pair skating only twice — in 1998 and 2002.

Historical context
The number of quotas for the 2026 Olympics matches the figure of the previous Games: in 2022 Armenia also competed with six athletes in the same sports, though figure skating was represented by ice dancers rather than pair skaters.
Earlier results were more modest: in the four prior Olympics, the Armenian delegation consisted of fewer athletes.
Armenia received its highest number of quotas — 9 — at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games, when bobsleigh was added to the traditional sports.
In 1998 in Nagano, the country was represented in freestyle skiing for the first time.
Thus, Armenia has participated in six winter Olympic sports throughout its history.
