Armenian football official Hayk Hovakimyan has left the Hungarian club Debrecen following the expiration of his contract, the club's press service reports.
The 31-year-old specialist began working at Debrecen in July 2022, initially serving as the sporting director before being promoted to international director.
Both sides agreed not to extend the cooperation after the current contract expired.
Previously, from 2019 to 2022, Hovakimyan served as the sporting director of Yerevan-based FC Noah.
"We thank Hayk Hovakimyan for his professionalism and dedication to the club and wish him success in his future career," reads Debrecen’s statement.
During Hovakimyan’s time at Debrecen, several Armenian players joined the Hungarian side, but none managed to stay long. Jirair Shaghoyan played 11 matches on a short-term loan during the 2024/25 season. Vardan Tovmasyan and Erik Ter-Mkrtchyan also featured in the youth team.
One of Hovakimyan’s main achievements at the club was the successful sale of players for profit. Over the last two seasons, Debrecen earned around two million euros from transfers.
