In September 2025, the 17th Congress of the European Handball Federation (EHF) took place in Andau, Austria.
For Armenia, the key event was the signing of the "Master Plan" together with the federations of Estonia, Finland, Ireland, and Kosovo. Armenia’s three-year handball development plan was approved by the EHF leadership and will be financially supported until 2028. The President of the Armenian Handball Federation, Arsen Khachatryan, emphasized that this cooperation will enable Armenian specialists to participate in international seminars, while athletes will join training camps and tournaments. The number of local and international competitions in Armenia will also increase.
A separate focus was placed on the development of grassroots handball. Ahead of the congress, 19 federations signed the new “Christensen Charter,” which defines the rights and obligations of the parties for the promotion and support of youth and amateur handball in Europe.

Overall, the EHF announced the allocation of more than €4.5 million for the period 2022–2028 to implement development programs and expand grassroots handball on the continent.
In addition, 69-year-old Michael Wiederer (Austria) was re-elected as EHF president for the third time.
It should be noted that the 2025 Armenian Handball Championship for adult men and women will be held in November.
