Nürnberg Draw with Bochum — Mkrtchyan Remains on the Bench Again

Nürnberg played out a 1–1 draw against Bochum in Matchday 23 of the 2. Bundesliga.

Armenia national team defender Styopa Mkrtchyan remained on the bench for the second consecutive match. From the beginning, it was clear that the 23-year-old centre-back was considered a rotational option in central defence. He made his debut for Nürnberg during the suspension of team captain Fabio Gruber. However, after Gruber’s return, the head coach decided not to break up the established centre-back pairing of Gruber and Luka Lochoshvili.

In the match against Bochum, Lochoshvili received a yellow card. The Georgian defender is now three bookings away from automatic suspension, while Gruber is five cautions away.

After 23 rounds, Nürnberg sit in 8th place in the 2. Bundesliga standings, continuing their push for higher positions.
