On August 14, the second legs of the third qualifying round of the 2025/26 UEFA Europa League and Conference League took place. Two Armenian clubs — Noah and Ararat-Armenia — played their matches. Unfortunately, both games ended in disappointment for Armenian fans.
Ararat-Armenia lost 1-2 at home in Yerevan to Czech side Sparta in the Conference League, finishing their European campaign with a 2-6 aggregate defeat. The only goal for the Yerevan side was scored by Juan Balanta, who had also netted in the first leg. Sparta’s winning goal came in the 92nd minute, courtesy of Ermal Krasniqi.
Noah, meanwhile, unexpectedly crashed out of the Europa League, losing on penalties to Gibraltar’s Lincoln. In both Gibraltar and Abovyan, the teams failed to score in regular or extra time. In the shootout, Lincoln’s players were more accurate and will now face Portugal’s Braga in the Europa League play-off round.
Noah will continue their season in the Conference League play-offs. The Armenian champions will face Slovenian champions Olimpija Ljubljana, who beat Albania’s Egnatia in extra time. If successful, Noah will play in the Conference League group stage for the second year in a row.
Interestingly, defender David Sualehe joined Noah from Olimpija.
