On March 5, the first leg of the Armenian Cup quarterfinal between Noah and Pyunik took place at Junior Sports Stadium in Yerevan.
The current trophy holders managed to secure a 2–1 victory. The match was tense and evenly contested, with both teams struggling to open the scoring while actively battling for control of the game.
The first half ended goalless — 0:0.
The key events unfolded after the break. Noah’s newcomer Valentin Costache opened the scoring, netting in his very first official match for the club.
Pyunik responded quickly. Team newcomer Momo Yansane won a penalty, which was confidently converted by Javi Moreno to level the score.
Noah’s winning goal was scored by team captain Hovhannes Hambardzumyan. The 35-year-old defender found the net after a well-worked corner routine. It was already his second goal in three matches in 2026. Earlier, Hambardzumyan had secured victory for his team in the UEFA Conference League match against AZ.
The date of the return leg between Noah and Pyunik has not yet been announced.
After the cup clash, the teams will return to Armenian Premier League matches. Noah will play BKMA on March 8, while Pyunik will face Shirak on March 9. Both teams continue their fight for the championship and European competition spots.
