Tonight in Fresno, California, 24-year-old Nikolai Terteryan — a Paris 2024 Olympian and 2023 European Games gold medalist — will make his long-awaited professional boxing debut. His first opponent will be American Issa Ajilat (0-1).
The bout is part of the ProBoxTV Contender Series card, headlined by the Hernandez vs. Verona matchup. The broadcast starts at 01:00 Moscow time and is available to watch for free on YouTube.
Unfortunately, the fight of his twin brother Sebastian Terteryan, also scheduled for this event, has been cancelled.
Nikolai and Sebastian recently signed a multi-year deal with Golden Boy Promotions, one of the world’s top boxing promotion companies, founded by legendary Oscar De La Hoya.
The Terteryan brothers were born in Armenia to the family of Tigran Terteryan, a former boxer of the Armenian national team. Later, the family moved to Denmark, where Nikolai and Sebastian took up boxing and achieved major success as amateurs. Their older brother Marcel is currently competing in professional MMA.
Now, Nikolai is taking his first step in the pro ring. He is trained by Jamie Robinson, and his interests are represented by Rick Mirigian, a prominent Armenian boxing manager recognized by Forbes as one of the top agents in the sport.
