Weightlifting

16-year-old Armenian weightlifter Natalya Sargsyan (63 kg) won Armenia's first “big” medal at the European U17 Championships taking place in Madrid. She lifted a total of 178 kg in the combined event and finished third, earning the “big bronze.”

Although Sargsyan did not win medals in individual lifts, she managed to surpass her opponents in the overall ranking using the Sinclair system, securing an important victory for the Armenian national team. This is already the team’s second medal at the tournament in Spain.

Results in the 63 kg weight category (girls):

  • Enkileda Charya (Albania) — 204 kg (93+111)

  • Sudenaz Sevim (Turkey) — 180 kg (82+98)

  • Natalya Sargsyan (Armenia) — 178 kg (81+97)

The European U17 Weightlifting Championships in Madrid will run until July 31, and the Armenian team still has several chances to win more medals.
