From February 1 to 7, the Second Pan-Armenian Winter Games will be held in Jermuk, bringing together over 1,300 athletes and delegates from 77 cities across 19 countries.
This will be the second edition of the competition in history. The first Winter Games took place in 2014 in Tsaghkadzor, gathering around 430 participants from 22 cities across 11 countries.
During the event, athletes will compete in hockey, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, snowboarding, chess, snow fights, and sports dancing.
The official opening ceremony will take place in Jermuk on February 1 at 18:00.
The flame of the Second Pan-Armenian Winter Games was ignited in Noravank. The monastery’s spiritual leader blessed the start of the games by lighting the torch with a candle. The torch was then handed over to renowned athletes: Olympic silver and bronze medalist, European gymnastics champion Artur Davtyan, European vice-champion, bronze medalist, and absolute World Cup winner Vagharsh Davtyan, World and European junior weightlifting champion, World Championship bronze medalist Alexandra Grigoryan, and World and European youth champion Emma Poghosyan. After the ceremony, the distinguished athletes transported the torch to Jermuk.
