Belgian Pro League club Dender officially announced the appointment of its new head coach. The team, currently at the bottom of the table after six rounds of the championship, will now be led by 32-year-old Armenian specialist Hayk Milkon (Melkonyan).
This is Milkon’s first experience as head coach of a professional team. Previously, he worked within the structure of Club Brugge, starting with the U18 youth team before joining the coaching staff of the first team.
Hayk Milkon was born in Beirut into a Lebanese-Armenian family but has long been living and working in Belgium.
Dender’s sporting director Julien Gorius emphasized that the club sees Milkon as a modern coach who can develop players and fit into the club’s long-term strategy:
“Hayk has excellent knowledge of the league, a strong character, and great determination. His modern approach to football and his ability to work with young talents perfectly match our philosophy.”
According to the club’s statement, Milkon will begin working with the team next week.
