At a boxing event in Belgium, 29-year-old Armenian-born boxer Miko Khatchatryan (19-1) secured a spectacular victory and claimed the vacant IBF International championship title in the super featherweight division (up to 58.967 kg). In a thrilling fight, he knocked out 24-year-old Venezuelan Fletcher Silva (16-4) in the fourth round.
Khatchatryan dominated the ring from the very beginning, knocking his opponent down three times in the same round. After the third knockdown, the referee decided to stop the fight and awarded Khatchatryan the victory by knockout. This win marked his 19th career victory, with nine of them coming by stoppage. His only career loss remains an exception.
Initially, Khatchatryan was scheduled to face French champion Jordan Rodriguez, but Rodriguez withdrew at the last moment, and the Venezuelan boxer stepped in as a replacement. However, Silva failed to provide the expected competition, falling to the much more experienced and confident Belgian fighter.
Khatchatryan’s next title defense is set for June in Monte Carlo. His next opponent has not yet been announced, but given his excellent form, he is expected to continue his winning streak and strengthen his position on the international stage.
