Near the end of the first half, Mkhitaryan was at the center of a conflict with Fluminense head coach Renato Gaúcho Portaluppi. The Armenian midfielder tried to quickly throw in the ball, but the Brazilian coach intentionally kicked it away. Emotions ran high—Mkhitaryan approached Portaluppi in frustration, nearly sparking a mass scuffle. In the end, the referee only booked the Brazilian coach.
With this match, Inter complete a very long 2024/25 season—reaching the Champions League final, missing out on the Serie A title, and playing in both the Supercoppa Italiana and Coppa Italia. In every tournament, Inter made it to the late stages, but finished the season without a trophy.
