Aksyonov Memorial in Greco-Roman Wrestling: All Finalists Determined

On September 27, the international Greco-Roman wrestling tournament — the Memorial of Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Aksyonov 2025 — opened in Novosibirsk. The competition brings together top wrestlers from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Russia.

The Armenian national team is represented by five athletes:

• 55 kg — Norayr Ahoyan

• 72 kg — Shant Khachatryan

• 82 kg — Martik Petrosyan

• 87 kg — Karen Khachatryan, Gevorg Tadevosyan

At the end of the first day, which featured all preliminary bouts, the tournament finalists were determined. The only Armenian to reach the decisive stage was 19-year-old Martik Petrosyan (82 kg), who secured a confident 3:1 victory in the semifinal against Russia’s Umar Gulaev.
