On September 28, the international Greco-Roman wrestling tournament – the Aksyonov Memorial 2025, dedicated to Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Aksyonov – concluded in Novosibirsk. Wrestlers from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Russia took part.

The Armenian national team was represented by five wrestlers in Novosibirsk and won two medals – one silver and one bronze:

  • Norayr Hakhoyan (55 kg) – one victory, lost in the 1/4 finals.

  • Shant Khachatryan (72 kg) – lost in the first bout.

  • Martik Petrosyan (82 kg) – silver medal. He won three matches but lost in the final to Irakli Kalandia.

  • Gevorg Tadevosyan (87 kg) – bronze medal. He scored two wins in the main bracket, then lost in the 1/4 finals, but through the repechage advanced to the bronze medal match, where he defeated none other than U23 World and European Champion and senior World bronze medalist Aues Gonibov.

  • Karen Khachatryan (87 kg) – lost in the first match.

In addition, the winner in the 72 kg weight category was Garegin Gyulumyan, an Armenian wrestler from the Rostov region.

  3. Shokhin Kholnazarov (Kemerovo Region) and Azamat Akhmedov (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug).

Up to 72 kg

  1. Garegin Gyulumyan (Rostov Region).

  2. Saeedi Nava Amir Mahdi (Iran).

  3. Madi Danelov (Kazakhstan) and Sergey Fedorov (Saint Petersburg).

Up to 77 kg

  1. Sergey Stepanov (Novosibirsk Region).

  3. Ahmed Kaitsukov (Moscow) and Evgeny Baydusov (Nizhny Novgorod Region).

  1. Irakli Kalandia (Rostov Region).

  2. Martik Petrosyan (Armenia).

  3. Umar Gulaev (Krasnoyarsk Territory) and Uzimjon Soatullaev (Uzbekistan).

  1. Mansur Saitov (Moscow Region).

  2. Ruslan Guseynov (Novosibirsk Region).

  3. Aleksandr Danilov (Nizhny Novgorod Region) and Gevorg Tadevosyan (Armenia).

  1. Danila Kovalev (DPR).
