Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Marat Atshemyan (51 kg) won a bronze medal at the 2025 Cadet (U17) World Championships held in Athens.

In the third-place match, the 16-year-old athlete claimed a confident 11:0 victory over Turkish wrestler Polat Karadeniz.

Earlier in the repechage round, Atshemyan had convincingly defeated Mohamed Eltayeb from Egypt (8:0). In the main draw, he also beat India’s Yuvraj Kamanna (8:0) but lost in the quarterfinals to Uzbekistan’s Otabek Tursunov (2:5), who went on to reach the final.

By the age of 16, Marat Atshemyan has already collected an impressive set of titles: two U17 European gold medals, a U17 World silver and bronze medal, a Gymnasiade gold medal, and a U15 European bronze medal.
