Armenian wrestler Malkhas Amoyan (77 kg) has been named to the Greco-Roman wrestling World Dream Team. The voting was conducted among followers of the official United World Wrestling (UWW) page ahead of the 2025 World Wrestling Championships.

In the 77 kg category, Amoyan beat out Japan’s Nao Kusaka, Uzbekistan’s Aram Vardanyan, and the USA’s Kamal Bey to claim his spot in the dream lineup.

Two Armenian wrestlers were in contention in the 97 kg category: Artur Aleksanyan and Artur Sargsyan (competing for Russia). They were joined by Bulgaria’s Kiril Milov and Olympic champion Mohammad Hadi Saravi of Iran, who ultimately won the vote.

In freestyle, Armenia’s Arsen Harutyunyan (61 kg) and Arman Andreasyan (70 kg) were also nominated but lost out to Russian wrestlers Zaur Uguev and David Baev.

Whether these symbolic teams reflect the actual champions will become clear in September when the 2025 World Wrestling Championships kick off in Oslo.
