Michael O’Neill to Lead Women’s Basketball Development Project in Armenia

The Armenian Basketball Federation has appointed Michael O’Neill as general manager of women’s basketball. He will be the first person to hold the position and will begin work on October 1, 2026.
The federation’s executive committee unanimously approved his appointment after discussing the programs and initiatives he presented. His initial term is two years, through the 2028 FIBA Europe championships.
O’Neill has coached women’s basketball in the United States and has experience in management, entrepreneurship and organizational development. Working with the federation, he will develop a long-term strategy covering every level of the women’s game, from youth and grassroots programs to junior and senior national teams.
His responsibilities will include identifying coaches and players in Armenia and the Armenian diaspora, strengthening the national-team structure and developing international partnerships.
