New Inter Milan head coach Cristian Chivu held a press conference in Los Angeles ahead of the team’s debut at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. One of the key topics was the future of Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan amid increased squad competition.
— In my opinion, we shouldn’t talk about age, because age is just a number. What matters more are the human qualities of the players. Henrikh Mkhitaryan has tremendous potential. He proved that with his commitment and incredible desire to play, especially last season. His professionalism is beyond any doubt. He is a very important player for Inter.
I hope he will regain the motivation and energy I saw in him — and still see — which is extremely important. In any case, hard work is needed, as well as respect for teammates, appreciation for the team, and the support we receive, — Chivu emphasized.
Let us remind you that Inter Milan is actively preparing for its first match at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The game against Mexican side Monterrey will take place on June 18 at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena. Kick-off is scheduled for 04:00 Yerevan time.
