Warsaw’s Legia, where Armenia national team midfielder Vahan Bichakhchyan plays, finished the Polish league season in 6th place and will not compete in European competitions next season.

For a significant part of the campaign, Legia were in the lower part of the standings and were even close to being involved in the relegation battle. However, in the final stretch of the season, the team made an impressive surge and kept their chances of claiming the fifth European spot until the last round.

In their final match of the season, Legia confidently defeated Motor Lublin 4-0. During the game, the Warsaw club moved up to 5th place in the live table, as Katowice were losing 1-0 to Pogoń.

However, the finale turned out to be dramatic. Katowice, playing with ten men, managed to equalize in the 90+7th minute and, thanks to that result, overtook Legia by one point. As a result, Bichakhchyan’s team remained sixth and finished the season one step away from European football.

Vahan Bichakhchyan’s contract with the Warsaw club runs for another year and a half. This season, the 26-year-old Armenian midfielder made 35 appearances for Legia, scoring 5 goals and providing 2 assists.

Lech became the champion of Poland.
