Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt secured an unusual victory at UFC 326 despite losing the rounds to his opponent.
The American defeated Chinese fighter Long Xiao by unanimous decision, 28–27. Interestingly, all three judges initially scored the fight 29–28 in favor of Xiao, but the final result changed due to point deductions.

In the third round, Xiao was deducted two points for repeated low blows. This penalty ultimately affected the final scorecards, allowing Garbrandt to claim the victory and snap a two-fight losing streak.
According to the fight statistics, the former champion was clearly outperformed by his opponent. Garbrandt landed only 18 significant strikes, while the Chinese fighter connected with 56 accurate shots.
The fight itself turned out chaotic and dramatic. After one of the low blows, Garbrandt felt extremely unwell and even vomited during the break. Returning to the octagon with a furious expression, the American launched himself at his opponent in a jumping attack, trying to quickly turn the fight around.
However, the rest of the bout lacked dangerous moments or major exchanges, and in the end the outcome was decided by the penalty points.
