Karen Khachanov (ATP 24) lost in the third round of the French Open to Tommy Paul (ATP 12) — 6:3, 3:6, 7:6(7), 3:6, 6:3.
The match on Court Simonne-Mathieu lasted over three and a half hours and turned into a real battle. The American was more precise in key moments, winning the third-set tiebreak and converting 6 out of 12 break points. Khachanov hit 5 aces, made 3 double faults, and won 65 points on return.
On his way to the third round, Khachanov had defeated Australia’s Aleksandar Vukic and Austria’s Sebastian Ofner.
This loss means the end of Khachanov’s title run at Roland Garros 2025. Tommy Paul, on the other hand, has reached the fourth round of the Paris major for the first time in his career.
