Karen Khachanov (ATP 22) made a confident start at the ATP 500 tournament in Halle, Germany, defeating Belgium’s Zizou Bergs (ATP 49) in the first round with a score of 7–5, 6–3.
The match lasted 1 hour and 35 minutes. Khachanov hit 3 aces, won 77% of points on his first serve, and converted 3 out of 5 break points. With this win, he advanced to the Round of 16.
Khachanov’s next opponent will be Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime, ranked 27th in the ATP rankings. Their match is scheduled for Wednesday, June 19.
The Halle tournament is played on grass courts and is an important part of the preparation for Wimbledon. The main draw started on June 16.
