Karen Khachanov makes confident Roland Garros start with straight-sets victory

Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov successfully began his Roland Garros 2026 campaign. In the first round of the Grand Slam tournament, Khachanov, ranked No. 15 in the ATP rankings, defeated France’s Arthur Gea.
The round-of-64 match ended with Khachanov winning in three sets — 6-3, 7-6 (7-3), 6-0.
The second set proved to be the most tense, as it went to a tie-break. Khachanov played the decisive points with confidence and won it 7-3. After that, the Russian tennis player completely dominated on court and did not give his opponent a single game in the third set.
During the match, Khachanov won 107 points compared to Gea’s 77, hit 8 aces and converted 6 of 18 break points. The Russian also won 19 games, while his opponent won 9.
In the second round of Roland Garros, Karen Khachanov will face the winner of the match between Kyrian Jacquet and Marco Trungelliti.
