The match began unfavorably for Khachanov, as his opponent took the first set, displaying strong serving and confident baseline play. However, in the second set, the Russian completely dominated, leaving the Czech player no chance — 6-0. In the decisive set, Karen continued his assertive play and secured victory with a score of 6-3.
Statistically, Khachanov showed a solid first-serve percentage (61%) and converted 5 out of 12 break points. Despite Mensik's 7 aces, the Russian performed confidently on returns and won 83 points against his opponent's 73.
In the 1/16 finals, Khachanov will face Ben Shelton, who currently holds the 12th spot in the ATP rankings.
Unfortunately, Armenian tennis player Elina Avanesyan was unable to advance further, losing to Donna Vekic in two sets — 3-6, 3-6.
