On May 10 in Rostock, Germany, Armenian boxer from Kyiv Karen Chukhadzhian (25–3) defeated Argentine Cristian Ayala (13–3–1) and claimed the WBO International welterweight title.
The bout lasted the full 10 rounds and ended with a unanimous decision in favor of Chukhadzhian. This victory marked an important step in the Armenian boxer's career following his loss to Jaron Ennis in the fight for the IBF title.
Chukhadzhyan is now targeting the WBO world championship belt, currently held by undefeated American Brian Norman (27–0).
On the same night in Rostock, another Armenian boxer, Agasi Margaryan (9–1), also claimed a unanimous decision win over Claudio Vizzini (2–3).
