Armenian Karate Team to Compete at the Senior European Championship in Germany

The Armenian senior karate team will take part in the 2026 European Championship. The tournament will be held in Frankfurt, Germany, from May 20 to 24 and will bring together some of the strongest karate athletes on the continent.
Armenia will be represented by a large delegation. The national team includes athletes who will compete both in different kumite weight categories and in the kata discipline.
In the women’s competition, Armenia will be represented by Lena Gyulumyan, who is entered in the 68 kg weight category. In the men’s competition, Avetik Ghazaryan will compete at 60 kg, Yura Zalyan at 67 kg, Suren Harutyunyan at 75 kg, Gor Nersisyan at 84 kg, and Suren Kosakyan in the +84 kg category.
In kata, Armenia will be represented by Mikhail Mkhitaryan.
The European Championship will be an important event for Armenian karate athletes, giving them the opportunity to test themselves against leading European competitors. The tournament will also be a good chance for the national team to strengthen the position of Armenian karate on the international stage.
