The captain of the Armenian men’s national basketball team, Andre Spight-Mkrtchyan, will continue his career in Venezuela.
The 30-year-old guard has signed a contract with the Spartans Distrito Capital club from Caracas.
Mkrtchyan’s previous team was Uruguay’s Biguá de Villa Biarritz, where he posted impressive numbers — an average of 23 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. His team finished 7th in the Uruguayan league.
Spartans Distrito Capital was founded in 2019 and became the champion of Venezuela already in 2020. The addition of Spight-Mkrtchyan is expected to strengthen the team’s perimeter and bring valuable experience in international competitions.
Throughout his rich career, the Armenian basketball player has competed in the USA, Poland, Finland, France, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, and will now test his skills in the Venezuelan league.
We remind that on November 27, Spight-Mkrtchyan will take the court with the Armenian national team in the first round of the EuroBasket 2029 qualifiers against Bulgaria.
