Results of the second day of the 2025 European Wrestling Championships: Russia wins 4 golds, Armenia is in the top three

April 8, 2025, Bratislava — The second day of the European Freestyle Wrestling Championships brought the first results: winners and medalists were determined in five weight categories (57, 65, 70, 79 and 97 kg).

Russian wrestlers demonstrated an impeccable result, winning 4 gold medals, giving only one gold to Georgia (in the 97 kg weight category). This allowed the Russian team to strengthen its first place in the overall medal standings. The Armenian team has two medals: silver in 70 kg and bronze in 65 kg, which were won by Arman Andreasyan and Vazgen Tevanyan.

57 kg:

  1. Nachyn Mongush (Russia)

  2. Azamat Tuskaev (Serbia)

  3. Aryyan Tyutrin (Belarus) & Islam Bazarganov (Azerbaijan)

Final: Nachyn Mongush (Russia) vs. Azamat Tuskaev (Serbia) – 7-4


65 kg:

  1. Ibragim Ibragimov (Russia)

  2. Khamzat Arsamerzuev (France)

  3. Vazgen Tevanyan (Armenia) & Ali Rahimzada (Azerbaijan)

Final: Ibragim Ibragimov (Russia) vs. Khamzat Arsamerzuev (France) – 3-0


70 kg:

  1. David Baev (Russia)

  2. Arman Andreasyan (Armenia)

  3. Akaki Kemertelidze (Georgia) & Kenan Heydarov (Azerbaijan)

Final: David Baev (Russia) vs. Arman Andreasyan (Armenia) – 4-1

Note: 2023 World Champion Ismail Musukaev (Hungary) failed to medal. He lost to David Baev 0-10 in the quarterfinals and to Kenan Heydarov 2-5 in the bronze medal match.


79 kg:

  1. Akhmed Usmanov (Russia)

  2. Zelimkhan Khadzhiev (France)

  3. Akhmed Usmanov (Slovakia) & Vladimer Gamkrelidze (Georgia)

  4. Hayk Papikyan (Armenia)

Final: Akhmed Usmanov (Russia) vs. Zelimkhan Khadzhiev (France) – 9-1


97 kg:

  1. Givi Matcharashvili (Georgia)

  2. Magomed Kurbanov (Russia)

  3. Richard Vegh (Hungary) & Batyrbek Tsakulov (Slovakia)

  4. Gurgen Simonyan (Armenia)

Final: Givi Matcharashvili (Georgia) vs. Magomed Kurbanov (Russia) – 3-2

Note: Givi Matcharashvili became a three-time European champion, winning all of the last three championships.

  • 61 kg: Arsen Harutyunyan (Armenia) vs. Zaur Uguev (Russia)

  • 74 kg: Chermen Valiev (Albania) vs. Zaurbek Sidakov (Russia)

  • 86 kg: Magomed Ramazanov (Bulgaria) vs. Magomedhabib Kadimagomedov (Belarus)

  • 92 kg: Osman Nurmagomedov (Azerbaijan) vs. Dauren Kurugliev (Greece)

  • 125 kg: Giorgi Meshvildishvili (Azerbaijan) vs. Solomon Manashvili (Georgia)
