Armenia triumphs at the 2025 European Youth Weightlifting Championships in Durrës

On November 4, the 2025 European Junior Weightlifting Championships for U20 and U23 athletes concluded in the Albanian city of Durrës. On the final day, four medal sets were contested in the U23 category.
Team Armenia finished the tournament with two “big golds” and one “big silver.” The champions were Garik Karapetyan (110 kg) and Ashot Movsisyan (+110 kg), while Mnatsakan Abrahamyan (94 kg) took silver. Athletes from Georgia and Ukraine also claimed gold medals.
After eight days of competition, Team Armenia topped the overall medal table with 7 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze medals. Turkey ranked second with 5 gold, 8 silver, and 3 bronze medals.
