Today is a special date for all fans of Armenian football. Exactly 33 years ago, on October 14, 1992, the Armenia national team played its first match in history.
Under the leadership of Eduard Markarov, the team made its debut at the legendary Hrazdan Stadium, playing a friendly against Moldova. The match ended in a goalless draw — 0:0.
The lineup of Armenia’s national team in that historic match:
Harutyun Abrahamyan — Sargis Hovsepyan, Yervand Krbashyan, Vardan Khachatryan, Samvel Kostandyan — Sargis Karapetyan, Aramais Tonoyan, Artashes Adamyan, Mkrtich Ohanyan — Armen Shahgeldyan, Arsen Avetisyan.
33 years later, on the same day, the national team takes the field again — this time in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Today, Armenia faces Ireland in Dublin, aiming to write a new page in its football history.
