The International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) has published the World Team of the Year for 2025 on its official website. The prestigious list includes players who demonstrated the highest level of performance throughout the season, both at club and international level.
The goalkeeper position was taken by Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Italian shot-stopper, who plays for Manchester City, became one of the most consistent goalkeepers in Europe, regularly saving his team in crucial matches.
The defensive line consists of Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes and William Pacho — all three represent UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain. They are complemented by high team discipline and versatility, which allowed PSG to dominate both domestic competitions and the international stage.
In midfield, IFFHS highlighted Vitinha (PSG) as well as the Barcelona duo Pedri and Lamine Yamal. The young Spaniards continue to dictate the tempo of the Catalan club’s play, combining creativity, ball control and mature football intelligence despite their age.
The attacking line of the symbolic team is packed with stars. It includes Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid), Erling Haaland (Manchester City), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) and Ousmane Dembélé (PSG). Each of them was a key figure for their club, consistently delivering goals and decisive contributions in important matches.
IFFHS’s World Team of the Year traditionally reflects not only individual achievements, but also the overall trends of the year, emphasizing the influence of standout players on the development of modern football.
