Ural Yekaterinburg midfielder and former Armenia international Khoren Bayramyan has revealed his plans for life after his playing career. The 34-year-old footballer intends to pursue coaching and has openly admitted that one of his main ambitions is to become the head coach of the Armenia national team.
Bayramyan made the comments in an extensive interview with Euro-Football.Ru, published on October 13.
"One of my goals is to become the head coach of Armenia in the future," the midfielder admitted.
Bayramyan explained that he plans to obtain a coaching license after retiring from professional football. However, he has not yet decided when to hang up his boots, as he continues to enjoy playing.
According to the midfielder, he has accumulated numerous coaching ideas throughout his career and even kept special notes while working under Kurban Berdyev.
Bayramyan Has Not Officially Retired from International Football
The midfielder also addressed his prolonged absence from the Armenia national team. Although he has not received a call-up for some time, Bayramyan confirmed that he has never officially announced his retirement from international football.
"I haven't officially retired from the Armenia national team. But judging by the fact that I'm no longer being called up, it seems to be heading in that direction," he said.
When asked whether he wanted to announce his international retirement during the interview, Bayramyan declined.
The midfielder also recalled his difficult relationship with former Armenia head coach Oleksandr Petrakov, under whom he stopped receiving national team call-ups.
"Petrakov and I didn't get along from the very beginning," Bayramyan admitted, refusing to reveal further details about their disagreements.
Bayramyan Praises Yeghishe Melikyan and Armenia's Future Prospects
Despite no longer being part of the squad, the experienced midfielder continues to follow Armenia's performances and has expressed a positive opinion about the direction the team is taking under head coach Yeghishe Melikyan.
Bayramyan believes the national team is going through a rebuilding phase and that young players need time to adapt.
"The team is undergoing a rebuilding process. Young players are coming through, and that always takes time. The coach is using a system with five defenders, which suits the national team. If they continue moving in this direction, the results will definitely come," Bayramyan said.
He also expressed confidence that Armenia could win its UEFA Nations League group again, having already achieved that feat in the past.
In addition, Bayramyan praised Eduard Spertsyan's move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli and Nair Tiknizyan's transfer to Greek side Olympiacos. In his opinion, both players have taken a step forward in their careers.
Bayramyan has represented Armenia since 2020 and spent most of his club career at Russian side Rostov. In the summer of 2026, the midfielder joined Ural Yekaterinburg, where he continues his playing career.
