London, July 2, 2025 – Karen Khachanov (ATP No. 20) advanced to the third round of Wimbledon by defeating Japan’s Shintaro Mochizuki (ATP No. 144) 1–6, 7–6 (9–7), 4–6, 6-3, 6–4,
The match was intense: Mochizuki comfortably took the first and third sets, but Khachanov held firm in the second-set tiebreak and swung the momentum in the fourth to seal the win. The contest lasted nearly three hours, with Khachanov showcasing remarkable endurance and mental resilience.
In the round of 16, Khachanov will face Portugal’s Nuno Borges (ATP No. 37). Recall that at Roland Garros 2022, Khachanov already beat Borges in four sets – now he aims to confirm his edge on grass.
