Karen Khachanov has ended his run at Wimbledon 2026. The Russian tennis player, ranked No. 22 in the ATP rankings, lost to Italy’s Flavio Cobolli in the third round.
The match turned into a real tennis marathon and ended with Cobolli winning in five sets — 0-6, 7-6, 6-7, 6-2, 6-2.
Khachanov made a powerful start and took the opening set 6-0. The players then exchanged victories in tie-breaks: Cobolli leveled the match, before Karen moved ahead again.
However, Khachanov was unable to hold on to his advantage. In the fourth and fifth sets, the Italian completely took control and won both by the same score — 6-2.
The result looks especially surprising because Cobolli, a Roland Garros finalist, had not been considered a strong grass-court player before the tournament. Nevertheless, at Wimbledon he managed to move on, claiming a comeback victory over Khachanov.
