Karen Khachanov ended his Wimbledon 2025 campaign with a quarterfinal loss to one of the tournament’s favorites — American Taylor Fritz, the No. 5 seed. The match was intense and lasted four sets: 3–6, 4–6, 6–1, 6–7 (4–7).
Despite a dominant third set where Khachanov showed his powerful tennis and reduced the gap, it was the American who celebrated victory. Fritz avenged his two previous losses to the Russian, showing solid serving with 16 aces and an impressive 82% win rate on first serve.
The 20th seed Khachanov fought until the end but faltered in the crucial points of the fourth set. Statistically, he lost only one game less than Fritz (19 vs. 20), but the tiebreak proved decisive.
It was Khachanov’s second career quarterfinal at Wimbledon, but once again he couldn’t break through to the final four.
Fritz will face the winner of the Alcaraz/Norrie matchup in the semifinals.
