Armenian heavyweight Gurgen Hovhannisyan (8–0, 7 KOs) scored an impressive technical knockout victory over American Dajuan Calloway (11–4) during a boxing night in Orlando, USA.
The fight, held on the night of April 19 at the “Caribe Royale Orlando” arena, was scheduled for eight rounds but ended early in the fifth. Despite a massive weight difference of 55 kilograms (Hovhannisyan weighed 135 kg, Calloway — 190 kg), “Big Gug” confidently controlled the fight and dropped his opponent in the fifth round. The American was unable to get up and continue.
This win marked the seventh knockout in eight fights for the 27-year-old Armenian, who continues his strong rise in the heavyweight division.
Notably, Calloway entered the fight on a four-fight winning streak. In his last bout, he stunned fans by knocking out undefeated Irishman Thomas Carty (10–0), but couldn’t replicate that success against the Armenian prospect.
