Armenia national team striker Grant-Leon Ranos was absent from Borussia Mönchengladbach’s first training sessions as the team began preparations for the new season.
The player was given permission to miss the start of pre-season training because he is in talks over a move to another club. If the parties are unable to reach an agreement, Ranos will return to Gladbach training in a week. The identity of the interested club has not yet been revealed.
The Armenian forward spent the second half of last season on loan in the 2. Bundesliga, but that spell proved unsuccessful for him.
The 22-year-old striker has one year remaining on his contract with Borussia. The German club is no longer considering another loan move and intends to sell the player on a permanent basis.
Gladbach’s head coach is not counting on Ranos for the upcoming season. However, if no suitable offer arrives, the forward will remain with the team until his contract expires and will then be able to leave the club as a free agent.
UPDATED: Grant-Leon Ranos has been spotted in the city of Kiel.
Rumor has it that a verbal agreement has been reached between the player and the club. Negotiations regarding the transfer fee are currently underway between the two clubs.
Holstein Kiel finished 13th in the 2. Bundesliga last season.
