31-year-old midfielder and captain of Yerevan’s Ararat, Gor Malakyan, has decided to end his playing career and has become assistant coach to Pyunik’s head coach Artak Oseyan. This means Gor will be coaching his older brother, Edgar Malakyan, who continues to play for Pyunik.
Gor Malakyan made over 250 appearances in the Armenian Premier League, playing for Ararat, Pyunik, Ararat-Armenia, Shirak, and Alashkert. He also spent two seasons in the Ukrainian Premier League with Stal.
From 2016 to 2019, Malakyan was a regular member of the Armenian national team, earning 18 caps.
Alongside Malakyan, Artak Oseyan’s coaching staff will also include Artur Avagyan, Artur Mkrtchyan, and Gurgen Hakobyan.
It should be noted that the previous coaching staff, led by Yeghishe Melikyan, left Pyunik and is now in charge of the Armenian national team.
