Gor Karapetyan Wins Bronze at the European Youth Judo Cup in Kaunas

Armenian judoka Gor Karapetyan won a bronze medal at the 2025 European Youth Open Cup held in Kaunas, Lithuania, from May 23 to 25. Competing in the under 100 kg weight category, he secured a confident victory in the bronze medal match against Polish athlete Marcin Walęsiak, winning by ippon.
On his way to the medal, Karapetyan also defeated Maksims Bizans from Latvia and another Polish judoka, Mateusz Wacko. In the semifinal, the Armenian lost to the eventual tournament champion Yerasyl Nurtaza from Kazakhstan.

The Armenian team was represented in Kaunas by five athletes, and Karapetyan’s bronze medal was the team’s only achievement at this stage.
